The Guru’s Income Secret

In one of my recent newsletter issues I started discussing the real truth about how the top 3% of online marketers make their money. It was probably no secret to you to know that they make their money selling how to make money products, not by using the products that they are selling you.

The Guru’s Income Secret

They generally have large lists themselves but also increase the number of people that they mail to considerably by using the power of sharing the large lists of their group of friends. By doing this they can easily mail to many hundreds of thousands of people which greatly enhances their potential for sales.

As important as those two things are though, there is one thing that is common to all successful people that is much more important and that is – they have a system.

Before they send out a single email or start any kind of marketing campaign, they have every step in the process mapped out. They know what the squeeze page will look like and what the free offer is going to be. They know what their front end offer is going to be, what the upsells and downsells are along the way and what the back-end offer is that they are trying to channel people to. In other words they know everything about this campaign and have it all in place.

I recommended Matt Lloyd’s report “IM Revolution Handbook” last time and in it he outlines how franchise systems like McDonalds work and why they generally succeed while traditional businesses have a very bad record of success. If you didn’t take up my recommendation to get his handbook you should. It will change your views on how you should be marketing online. I understand from one of my subscribers that did get it that if you cancel out of the main page you get a chance to get the handbook for just $1 so there really isn’t any reason not to get it.

So the key to success is to have a system, a plan. They know at the outset every step in the process that they want their visitors to take from the squeeze page, the page that their visitors land on when they come to their site and enter their email address in return for a free offer of some sort, right through to the the high ticket offer that they eventually offer.

Along the way there will be OTO’s (or one time offers), upsells to more expensive offers, downsells to less expensive offers if their visitors pass on the upsell, and so on. This is what we call a marketing funnel. It’s a preset set of steps that a visitor will take when they arrive at the site.

Top marketers have all of this planned long before they even consider putting an offer out. Doing things this way achieves a number of things. Firstly, they have everything in place so that their mastermind group can just slot into it and promote to their list, they extract the maximum benefit out of their marketing (make more  money from the same marketing effort) and one more very important thing.

The product that you offer after people come to your squeeze page is known as the front-end and everything after that is referred to as the back-end. Generally speaking the money is made in the back-end. That’s because it normally costs you money to get people to your site initially so any money you make from your front-end offer is cancelled out by the cost of that sale.

Once you have someone in your funnel, their is no additional cost of sale. They are already there so anything they buy after that goes straight onto your bottom line. In addition to that if you are only selling front-end products, as an affiliate for example, you have to keep coming up with more products to sell your visitor which is a lot of extra work.

I’ve created a mindmap which I’ll put up on another post when I sort out the best way to display it for you without the need for you to have mindmap software.
